MailCraft

Add an IMAP account

MailCraft works with any provider that offers IMAP for incoming mail and SMTP for outgoing mail. It doesn’t support POP.

  1. In File › Info, choose Add Account.
  2. Type your address and choose Connect. For well-known providers, MailCraft fills in the servers for you.
  3. Enter your password and choose Connect.

Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and Fastmail don’t accept your normal password from a mail program. Create an app password in your account’s security settings with the provider, and use that instead.

If MailCraft can’t find your servers, open Advanced options and choose Let me set up my account manually. Your provider’s help pages list these:

Field Example
User name Usually your full email address
Password Your password or app password
Incoming mail (IMAP) imap.example.org, port 993, TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP) smtp.example.org, port 465 with TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS

MailCraft always uses an encrypted connection and checks the server’s certificate. It won’t connect without one.
